The Awake Project collaborates with independent artists, institutions and projects all over the world. Either as co-creators, teachers, mentors or just friends. We support all initiatives that strives to empower people to create a balanced world for everyone.
Christopher Sivertsen, Artistic Director, describes his philosophy of Awake Project like this:
“Contemporary people tend to split everything into many parts, and give each part power of its own, so that it becomes more and more difficult to choose which part to follow or what to listen to. When the mind, heart, body and soul constantly argue we create a place for ourselves that is full of contradiction and argument. How would it be, if we as people, as actors, as artists, could find a way to unite all these impulses? Imagine the power that is revealed when all parts are coordinated into one.
The Awake Project consists of highly skilled artists deriving from many different genres and disciplines. When we work together we must strive to be awake. When combining voice, body, text, music, story, expressions, circus, lights and design, then theatre truly becomes a place where one has to be awake for unity to happen.
I believe this model can serve as a base for creativity, and if we strive to achieve the power to be healthy and harmonious, that will, from my perspective, contribute to creating a healthier world.”
